Picked out music for Solo & Ensemble Contest for choir with my teacher. I went and sat in my normal choir seat in the back of the room and waved at him from afar. He doubled over laughing and proceeded to call me weird and informed me he respected that. I was smiling the hardest I had all day.
Listen to "The Last Rose of Summer" by Celtic Woman on YouTube: that's the song I'm singing and I wish I was that good! :D I pray I'll do my best.

Sighting
Got back to school this morning and looked around at all the students: they were all wearing sweatpants and baggy shirts. It dawned on me that today was Roll Out of Bed Day for Ice Age week. I had completely forgotten! Whoops! Then I saw that over half my friends weren't wearing pj's and were as dressed up as I was. I didn't feel alone after that.

Florida Part 5
I never got to eat Krispy Kreme in Florida during the vacation (they have ceased to exist where I live) and I was slightly disappointed. I got to the small airport and looked over at the concession store and saw the sign for KK, delivered there every morning. I got to eat my favorite glazed doughnut after all. :)

Sighting: Florida Part 4
Walking along the beach today yielded a number of fun shells and one precious sand dollar. I was thrilled to have found one of my favorite shells for myself to keep as a reminder of the perfection of this place. The perfect sand dollar proceeded to break apart in my hands when a large wave caught me off guard. God reminded me that not all things are as perfect as they appear and that the things that seem to be are best cherished as a memory than as a tangible entity. As I let the pieces be pulled from my hands into the ocean I smiled as I thought it was a proper burial. Rest in peace - and perfect pieces.

Sighting: Florida Part 3
Went outside at 10pm-ish and looked up to see all the stars in the sky in one huge rush of exhilaration. Can't see them where I live because it's either cloudy or too bright or I can't get a good view. In any case this was a sight to behold.

Sighting: Florida Part 2
Forecast today was cloudy and rainy... Managed to get an hour of swimming in before it started pouring. Fog stretched across the horizon so that the sea looked like it went on for eternity. Started a 550+ count jigsaw puzzle and finished six hours later. Will post a picture later. Tomorrow I hope to go shell hunting on the shoreline.

Sighting: Florida, Part 1
Left at three this afternoon for the airport to go to Florida to visit church friends who stay there every winter. Get on the first flight to Atlanta to change planes and take off smoothly - I forced myself to keep my eyes open, but somehow they closed anyway. Just as we got above the clouds I opened my eyes to the most awe-inspiring sight in my life: the suddenly sunny sky, painted with brilliant pinks, oranges and baby blues. I couldn't help but stare for a full five minutes. When it seems I'd just looked away I turned back to see it got even better: composed of deep navy blues, blinding yellow, luminous purple and a shade of red I could never fully describe in words it was so gorgeous.
It's 12:48am, I'm beat and we just got to our friends' condo. Bless you all and goodnight...zzz........zzzzzz........

Reading an excerpt from a book for a practice ACT test about the "door to dreams" that wouldn't open for the main character. Gave me inspiration for a drawing and a story. :)

Friday's Sighting
My favorite pizza dive in the world, I discovered out of business yesterday. :( Sad day! My dad and I drove past it and mourned for our loss - that was some blasted good pizza after all - and went home pizza-less. What made the day better was that Dad proceeded to make my second-favorite meal at his house without me asking for it. :) Also, a couple episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender helped too. :)

Sighting
God shows Himself in the funniest ways. In English class we all traded completed tests to grade them, and my teacher sent out three boys who had been absent and couldn't be allowed to hear the answers, with the test to complete. We settled in, got all our names written at the bottom, and were about to start when the door opened and entered one boy who had finished the test.
"You finished already?" My teacher asked incredulously.
"Yep." The boy said as he displayed his completed test. Teacher shrugged, and my neighboring-classmate's test, whom he had given to his friend, was given to the new grader - we'll call him Boy 1. Again, we're about to start when Boy 2 enters, having finished his test. Same dialogue, same answer. Boy 2 goes to Boy 1 to trade and we all start snickering. My neighbor's test had gone to friend, to Boy 1, to Boy 2.
Once more the cycle starts. Boy 3 enters, all three having completed the test in record time, and trades with Boy 2. The paper has gone all the way around the classroom, and we all share a laugh.
"Alright. Let's get down to work." Teacher smiles. "Number one-" His speech is cut off by a ringing phone, and everyone bursts in raucous laughter as teacher groans with a chuckle.
God shows Himself in fun ways that will get us laughing when we need it most. Thank you, Father, for sharing Your happiness.

Sighting - Glass Half Full
"Today is a glass-half-full kind of day"
This was printed on the side of my Arby's milkshake cup. I needed the heavenly reminder to make sure my day wasn't focused on the bad. Thank you Father for reminding me to be happy.

Yesterday and Today's Sighting
My ear plugged up in the shower yesterday night (sigh........) like it sometimes does and I thought "Great, doctor appointment here I come" but then as soon as I layed down to sleep the water dribbled out of my ear. Insignificant to some, yes, but a huge relief to me. When I went to bed I was tired enough to not see the time so I wasn't sure what day it really was... it counts for both to me. :)

Sighting
Again, my friends were dragging me down. Again, as I felt I was about to break while in the car with my dad driving, I looked to the West and saw the sun's rays moving closer, and I felt God's face looking down at me. Thank you, Father, for remembering me.

Yesterday's Sighting
...I'll be frank. Two of my best friends - who are best friends themselves - are fighting over something that happened a year ago and are dragging me and my other best friend down with them. This sets the scene for this sighting. Just as I felt like I was going to break under the pressure of them wanting me to take sides I remembered a friend's blog post from last year. "Leave it at the cross". So I did, and I felt better.

Sighting
(Argh... yesterday I didn't post... ugh.)
At my local Barnes & Noble I was purusing the teen fantasy section and came across the sequel to a book that I wanted to read. When I first found it last year I thought "I want to read the first one, but only the second one is here", took down the name and author, and promptly forgot about it until today. I came across Eona by Alison Goodman and grinned as I remembered I wanted to read it. For a fleeting moment I thought once again only the second one was present, but a glance to the left yielded the book Eon, alone, last one on the shelf.
I will let you know how well it reads. :)

Just as I was feeling down and alone, Set the World on Fire by Britt Nicole starts playing on my iTunes playlist.
I wanna set the world on fire
Until it's burning bright for You
It's everything that I desire
Can I be the one You use?
[CHORUS]
I, I am small but
You, You are big enough
I, I am weak but
You, You are strong enough to
Take my dreams
Come and give them wings
Lord with You
Nothing I can not do
Nothing I cannot do
I wanna feed the hungry children
And reach across the farthest land
And tell the broken there is healing
And mercy in the Father's hands
[CHORUS]
Take my dreams
Come and give them wings
Lord with You
Nothing I cannot do
Nothing I cannot do
My hands my feet
My everything
My life, my love
Lord, use me
I wanna set the world on fire
I wanna set the world on fire, yeah
Take my dreams
Come and give them wings
Lord with You
Nothing I cannot do
Take my dreams
Come and give them wings
Lord with You
There's nothing I can't do
Nothing I can't do
I'm gonna set the world on fire
Set the world on fire

Sighting
Dad gave me a flannel shirt from American Eagle for Christmas and slipped a very nice coupon in the pocket. I wore it at school, out to the mall, church, everywhere I went normally. Threw it in the wash without a second thought. Mom calls me to the laundry room after pulling clothes out of the dryer and holds up a slightly warped, still in tact coupon. How anything would have survived one, maybe two cycles of laundry is very impressive. I think this is more than a coincidence.

Sighting
My dad and my cat having a spirited conversation in the kitchen.
My sightings tend to be simple and short, and usually meaningful only to me. This is significant to me because the cat (Sylvester) seems to find ways to tick off my dad to frightening proportions, yet Dad still cares about the cat at the end of the day. Today, for instance, Syl started chewing on the fake Christmas tree in plain view, and was promptly chased downstairs by my grumbling dad. And now, three hours later, Dad is replying to Syl's ornary meows (that's just the way he "talks") with a laugh. This makes me smile, and I thank God that He works to make us feel better after an upsetting experience.

Beginning of a Year, and a Blog!
A new year means new adventures, and my first adventure is starting this blog! I'll be posting daily God sightings, and that might be all that shows up. If there's more that I want to say, there'll be another post. Yeah - I'll make this clear right away: I'm a Christian, and I take pride in that. I'm glad that my Father has set me apart from the world to bring me to his kingdom someday, and I will bear my name as Daughter with a glad heart. I hope you will acknowledge this and that you won't judge me because of it. I look forward to seeing your input and will be blogging to you soon.
